At the beginning of each sports season, there is always an enormous amount of excitement and an endless amount of hope. “This year will be our year!”. Everyone is even and has the same chance of going all the way. A clean slate. However, most times, seasons end in heartache. After all, there can only be one champion. But sometimes it’s not about the end, it’s the journey. The little moments and celebrations along the way. Whether it’s your first trip to a new stadium or the last second buzzer beater to win the game against your big rival. Sometimes it’s all about the little victories. The little moments.
This year in the Men’s NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament, in my house, it was a national championship year!!! This past Monday night, we stayed up until 230am enjoying the thrill of the big win as the Duke Blue Devils took home the title. And now that (college) basketball has wrapped up, I ease into the start of golf with The Masters (in my beautiful home state, Georgia) and baseball (with the Atlanta Braves home opener this weekend). And with me I take the thrill of victory, big and small, and the hope of another amazing sports season!
So wherever you are and whoever your team is, here’s to new beginnings and seasons filled with small celebrations and victories!
Even though I was unable to go to the Final Four this year to cheer on the Devils, I visited the Final Four activities two years ago when it was in Atlanta. What an electric event! See some of the highlights below!
